Heavy to very heavy rain alert in seven districts on July 4

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) - Hyderabad Centre - has placed seven districts of Telangana under orange alert, and eight under yellow alert, for Saturday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) – Hyderabad Centre – has placed seven districts of Telangana under orange alert, and eight under yellow alert, for Saturday.

Seven districts of Telangana were forecast to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on Saturday. Heavy rainfall may lash eight other districts. 

Orange alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) – Hyderabad Centre – on Friday has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall (orange alert) at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial and Peddapalli districts. 

Yellow alert

The IMD has issued a yellow alert predicting heavy rainfall as very likely at isolated places in Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Medak and Kamareddy districts. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are very likely in all districts. 

Hyderabad forecast

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) was forecast as very likely in parts of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas over the next 48 hours, according to the IMD’s weather forecast on Friday afternoon. “Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively. Surface winds are likely to be westerlies /south-westerlies with wind speeds around 08-10 kmph,” as per its press release.
