Thiruvananthapuram district, which goes to the polls on December 9 in the first phase of the local body elections, will have 3,264 polling stations, including a clutch of ‘model,’ ‘pink’ and ‘young’ stations. ‘Model’ stations will have special amenities for voters such as wheel chairs, seats in the waiting area, drinking water, toilets and first-aid facilities. Patients, pregnant women, elderly citizens and the differently abled persons will have priority in queues. First-time voters will be greeted at these stations. ‘Pink’ stations will be managed by women officers. For their easy identification, these polling stations will have pink-coloured balloons, curtains and table cloths.

‘Young’ polling stations will be managed by young polling officers. There will be special selfie points for taking snaps after casting votes.

There will be two model stations, eight pink stations and four young stations, one each in the four municipalities in the district.
