The first day of the traditional Marathi New Year was observed with processions and religious gatherings in cities across the state on the occasion of Gudi Padwa. Citizens participated in the festivities by hoisting the Gudi and attending community events. The celebrations included processions in Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur, and other locations, featuring traditional music ensembles.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended a procession in Nagpur. A collective recitation of the Ramraksha Stotra was conducted at the venue. Mr. Fadnavis stated that the festival holds significance in the culture and urged citizens to adopt positive resolutions for the new year. He added that collective efforts from citizens are required for national progress.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde participated in a procession in Thane. The procession began at the Kopineshwar Temple. MLAs Sanjay Kelkar and Niranjan Davkhare, and MP Naresh Maske were present. Citizens lined the streets to watch the procession. The event included performances by Dhol and Tasha troupes and Lezim dancers.

In Dombivli, a procession featured women riding motorcycles and bicycles. Participants, dressed in traditional attire, hoisted the Gudi on their vehicles.

At the Tuljabhavani Temple, the Gudi was hoisted on the temple spire following the morning Aarti. A worship ceremony was conducted by the chief priests. The Vitthal-Rukmini Temple was decorated with flowers. Devotees visited temples across the state on the day, which is considered one of the three-and-a-half auspicious moments in the Hindu calendar.
