The State Government has warned that stringent action will be initiated against anyone indulging in irregularities in the sanction of houses under Indiramma Indlu weaker section housing scheme.

The Government has taken up the prestigious programme to realise the common man’s dream of owning a house. “We will not tolerate anyone, irrespective of their position, indulging in irregularities in the release of funds,” Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said.

The Minister was reviewing the status of complaints received at the call centre set up in the Housing Corporation on Friday. He directed the department officials to sack the members of the Indiramma committees who were found guilty of demanding bribe from beneficiaries. Criminal cases should be registered against them.

Officials brought to his notice about the role of an Indiramma committee member in Madirala mandal of Suryapet and a village secretary of Devaruppala mandal in Jangaon districts. The Minister directed the officials concerned to submit a report in this regard within 24 hours so that appropriate action could be initiated on them.

He ordered immediate suspension of some Village secretaries in Adilabad district for crediting the amounts into the accounts of those who were not selected under the scheme. Officials were directed to conduct detailed inquiry into the complaints and take appropriate action.

The Government was releasing funds into beneficiaries’ accounts every Monday based on the stages of construction of Indiramma houses. Some banks however were adjusting the amounts towards the previous dues. This should not be tolerated and officials concerned should initiate action against such banks.

Housing department officials were asked to address a letter to the State Level Bankers Committee explaining them about the seriousness of the situation. Steps should be taken to resolve problems arising out of mismatch of Aadhar numbers before September 25bsp that amounts could be credited into the beneficiaries’ accounts before Dasara festival.

The Minister exhorted the beneficiaries to call toll-free number 1800599599 in case of complaints and the Government was firm on initiating action within 24 hours.
