Minister for Food and Civil Supplies R. Sakkarapani and Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam chaired a meeting to review the shortage of LPG gas cylinders in the State at the Secretariat in Chennai on Wednesday. During the meeting, representatives of various petroleum companies said that the supply of cooking gas cylinders could be sustained for 25 days and that the stock of commercial cylinders was low, according to an official release. Representatives of various associations of restaurant owners requested the Tamil Nadu government for its support to ensure the supply of gas cylinders to restaurants as well as educational institutions on priority. The associations also sought for the government’s support to use electricity instead of cooking gas.
