The Kallakurichi All Women Police on Wednesday arrested a teacher under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on charges of sexually harassing five girl students at a government tribal residential school in Vellimalai. The arrested teacher was identified as Suresh.

Police sources said a few students studying in Class IX in the school accused the mathematics teacher, Suresh, of sexually harassing them. They complained to a Singappen Special Force that visited the residential school during an awareness programme held two days earlier.

Following the complaint, the team informed the Kallakurichi All Women Police. The team conducted an enquiry following which the teacher was arrested. He was produced before a local court and remanded to custody in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
