The Goondas Act has been invoked against a drug peddler, who was arrested with 1.38 kg of ganja in April this year.

According to the police, the detainee has been identified as D. Sasikumar, 25, of Naduveerapattu in Cuddalore district. The police arrested him with the contraband at Salakarai Road in Naduveerapattu on April 3.

Sasikumar had seven cases pending against him in various police stations in Cuddalore and Kallakurichi districts. Acting on the recommendations of Cuddalore District Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar, District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar invoked provisions of the Goondas Act against him. The orders were served in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
