Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday (May 12, 2026) instructed officials to ensure the supply of drinking water in all districts of the State, especially during the summer season.

During a review meeting he chaired at the Secretariat, Mr. Vijay issued a set of instructions to officials from the Municipal Administration and Water Supply and the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Departments.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to remove challenges in the supply of drinking water in all districts, as well as in the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), by employing lorries and through other means.

An official release stated that the Chief Minister also directed officials to speed up desilting and flood mitigation works ahead of the monsoon season. Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, officials of Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board were also present.
