Global education today is less about a stamp on a passport and more about a shift in mindset, said Vice-Chancellor of The Apollo University, Vinod Bhat, at the Apollo–Leicester Education Summit 2026 held here on Sunday.

The one-day summit organised in collaboration with the University of Leicester, UK, focused on “Global careers in the age of AI” and drew students, parents, educators, industry leaders to discuss future career readiness.

Designed for senior secondary students preparing for higher education and careers in 2030 and beyond, the summit discussed rising concerns about artificial intelligence, employability and global career uncertainty. Speakers emphasised the need for educational systems to evolve by integrating employability, adaptability and resilience directly into curricula.

Provost & Deputy Vice-Chancellor, University of Leicester, Henrietta O’Connor, highlighted in her address how her institution is embedding work-related learning into every undergraduate degree to ensure students develop practical skills for future opportunities.

The event featured a series of sessions on global higher education trends, the future of engineering, business in a tech-driven world, healthcare and research, and diverse pathways in computer science beyond traditional IT careers.
