The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has announced Property Tax Parishkaram, a special grievance redressal programme to be conducted every Sunday through out March in order to address property tax related issues of citizens.

According to a circular issued by the GHMC Commissioner, the programme will be conducted on March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at all circle offices across the city. Deputy Commissioners, Valuation Officers/Assistant Municipal Commissioners and Tax Inspectors will be present to directly receive and resolve grievances.

The initiative aims to expedite disposal of revision petitions, rectification of property tax assessments, posting of payments made through bill collectors, RTGS and online modes, correction of arrears, settlement of court cases as per rules, IGRS-related matters, self-assessment issues and other tax-related concerns, a statement from GHMC informed on Saturday.

Three dedicated counters equipped with computers, online connectivity and printers will be set up at each centre to facilitate quick processing of grievances. A reception counter will also be arranged to guide taxpayers, provide necessary forms and streamline submissions.

Officials have been instructed to prioritise disposal of revision petitions after due verification. Online corrections are to be carried out in accordance with the delegation of powers issued earlier by the Commissioner. Zonal and Deputy Commissioners have been directed to assign clear responsibilities to staff and ensure strict adherence to timelines.

Special focus will also be given to legal cases, with petitioners encouraged to attend the programme for possible resolution in accordance with court orders and statutory provisions.

Daily reports in the prescribed format will be submitted to the Revenue wing and updated on a centralised monitoring platform. The Corporation has warned that delays in processing applications will be viewed seriously and may invite disciplinary action.

A one time settlement scheme is also on on for property tax defaulters, under which 90% waiver is being offered on accumulated interest over old arrears.
