The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched a special enforcement drive to identify and remove unauthorised and illegal advertisement structures across the city following the delimitation and merger of several municipalities into the civic body.
GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan said on Saturday that a large number of unauthorised hoardings, banners and other advertisement elements have been identified at various locations within GHMC limits. The proliferation of such structures has raised concerns over public safety, visual clutter and violations of municipal regulations.
As part of the ongoing drive, several illegal advertisement structures have already been dismantled. Mr. Karnan said the enforcement action would be carried out in a phased and sustained manner across the city to ensure urban orderliness, road safety and compliance with prescribed advertisement norms.
To strengthen enforcement, the GHMC is in the process of constituting a dedicated team to exclusively monitor, regulate and take action against unauthorised advertisements.
The Commissioner warned that strict action would be taken against violators, including initiation of penal measures in accordance with provisions of the GHMC Act and relevant rules.
