The Keladi Shivappa Nayaka Univeristy of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences in Shivamogga will hold a four-day Krishi-Thotagarike Mela at its Agriculture College campus at Navule here from November 7. The event will be conducted on the theme ‘Sustainable Agriculture through Cooperative Farming’.

The Krishi-Thotagarike Mela, an agricultural and horticultural exhibition, will emphasis an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental cooperation at the regional, State, national, and international level for sustainable development of agriculture at a global level, said a press release issued by the university.

The event will include a crop museum, a technology park, exhibitions related to hi-tech horticulture, protected cultivation, cashew technologies, vertical farming, terrace gardening, organic farming, integrated farming systems, watershed management, beekeeping, mushroom production, post-harvest technologies, fisheries, eco-tourism, and displays of farm machines and agri-inputs. The university expects participation from over 300 agri-based companies and institutions.

The university will honour district-level best farmers and farm women selected from seven districts of the university’s jurisdiction. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa, Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy, and others are expected to take part in the inaugural ceremony to be held on November 8.
