Former Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian has stressed the need for competitive federalism between the States and the Central Government calling it the most important dynamic factor.

He said Telangana with its vision can be a model for other States to emulate in terms of competitive federalism. There was another factor competitive sub-federalism where Hyderabad is turning out to be a magnet for investments. The national capital New Delhi has its problems with pollution levels forcing people to look out and Bengaluru faces congestion. “Hyderabad is turning out to be a magnet for investments,” he said.

Mr. Arvind Subramanian was addressing at the valedictory of the Telangana Rising Global Summit here on Tuesday. He said Telangana and Hyderabad could become cradles for competitive federalism and sub-federalism. On the global summit, he said investment summits are like elections. “Like all of the hard work done between elections, it has to be seen how much of these commitments translate into investments between the summits,” he said.

The former Chief Economic Advisor also expressed concern about the Revdi culture, culture of freebies.
