Five from A.P. killed in road accident near Sindhanur

Five persons were killed and two others sustained critical injuries in a collision between a light goods carrier and a pickup vehicle near Kannari Cross in Sindhanur taluk of Raichur district, late on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at around 9 p.m. when the goods carrier, which was travelling from Sindhanur towards Ballari, collided with the SUV from Siragumpa towards Sindhanur. All the five who died were travelling in the goods carrier, which bore the brunt of the impact. The identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

The injured persons were rushed to the Sindhanur Government Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Their condition is said to be critical.

Preliminary information suggested that all the victims were from Andhra Pradesh and transporting sheep in the vehicle at time of the accident. The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined.

“Five people died on the spot. They identities are yet to be ascertained. As per the preliminary information we could gather, the victims are from Andhra Pradesh and they were transporting sheep,” Vinayaka, the Police Inspector, attached to Sindhanur Circle, said.
