Conference on Tamil Computing inaugurated at SRMIST

At an international conference on Tamil Computing and Information Technology here, a flurry of Tamil software initiatives were released that included a Handwriting Recognition System (Tamil OCR), a Large Language Model designed for Tamil, and an Augmented Reality-based Virtual Museum showcasing Tamil Heritage.

Scholars, technology leaders, and academicians deliberated on several aspects and methods of advancing indigenous language technologies at the conference, which was organised by the Department of Computational Intelligence, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), in association with International Forum for Information Technology in Tamil (INFITT).

C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, Baskaran Kesavan, Chairman, INFITT, and S. Arumugam, Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Open University, among others, spoke.
