The internal bickering in Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes seem to be worsening.

Actor Ansiba Hassan, former joint secretary who raised allegations against the office-bearers, is unlikely to appear before the executive committee on Monday (June 1, 2026) to submit the evidence as she has asked for setting up an independent panel.

She had accused actor Tiny Tom, member of the association’s executive committee, and a section of the office-bearers of subjecting her to alleged character assassination and making communal remarks targeting her. She had also accused actor and vice-president Lakshmi Priya of lodging a fake police complaint against her.

Mr. Tom had denied the allegations while stating that there is a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image.

Ms. Hassan said that she will not appear before the association’s leadership to submit the evidence as she has has lost faith in them. She said that she does not expect to receive justice from a committee, which included persons against whom she had raised allegations. A notice issued to her by the association had urged her to appear before the president and general secretary on any of the three days between June 1 and June 3.

Actor Maala Parvathi, member of the association, has demanded that the present executive committee step down by undertaking the responsibility for the ongoing crisis and its alleged administrative failure. In a social media post on Sunday (May 31, 2026), she said that the leadership of the association has failed to resolve the complaints lodged by actors, including Ms. Hassan. The issues raised by Ms. Hassan required a comprehensive probe as it referred to allegations of communalism or discrimination, she said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Priya is expected to appear before the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Thrikkakara in connection with her complaint against Ms. Hassan. Ms. Priya had earlier filed a complaint at the Thripunithura police station over an alleged WhatsApp message sent by Ms. Hassan, claiming that it could have affected her family life.

Ms. Hassan had appeared before the ACP, Thrikkakara on Sunday (May 31, 2026) to submit her statements related to her complaint in which she accused Ms. Priya of filing a false complaint against her. She had also lodged a complaint against sub-inspector of women’s cell, Thripunithura alleging that she was subjected to unlawful detention in the name of verifying the allegations against her.
