The Ayyampuzha police arrested two persons from West Bengal with 37 kg of suspected ganja. The arrested are Sahidul Islam, 30, of Malda and Muhammed Anbar, 30, Murshidabad.

The duo were nabbed by a special team led by Perumbavoor ASP Hardik Meena around 6:30 pm on Friday (December 19, 2025) at Olive Mount near Ayyampuzha.

They had allegedly trafficked the suspected narcotic item from Odisha to Aluva by train. The police intercepted them when they were transporting the item from Aluva by an autorickshaw. Though they tried to run away, the cops chased them down, the police said.

Islam was arrested earlier this year with 16 kg of suspected ganja by the Kalady police.
