In a coordinated effort, a special team from the Bihar police, with the help of the jurisdictional Kodigehalli police, arrested two habitual offenders who carried cash rewards on their heads. They had been running an extortion business from Bengaluru, the police said.

The arrested accused have been identified as Manik Singh, 30, and his father Manoj Singh, 65, both infamous gangsters who had been absconding for the past five years by dodging the Bihar police. The duo was finally arrested by the Bihar Special Task Force (STF).

According to the police, the father-son duo is accused in more than 40 serious criminal cases, including over 24 murder cases. Complaints against them had been registered across multiple States, including Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. The Bihar police had also announced a reward of ₹3 lakh for information leading to their arrest.

Investigations revealed that Manik had been hiding in Bengaluru for the last five years. For the past two years, he had been staying with his father in the Kodigehalli police station limits. During their stay, the accused allegedly made extortion calls to builders and businessmen in Bihar, demanding money.

After trailing the duo for several years, the Bihar STF finally traced their location to Bengaluru and arrested them. Further investigation is under way to ascertain their local contacts and criminal activities in the city, the police said.
