Teachers should cultivate the habit of writing their thoughts, enabling reflection and continuous improvement in teaching practices, said Ganesan Raghuram, former director, IIM Bangalore, and professor (emeritus) at Chanakya University and Gujarat Maritime University.

Addressing faculty members at a faculty orientation programme on ‘Classroom Dynamics—Learning, Preparation, and Engagement’, organised by the P. B. Siddhartha College of Arts & Science in Vijayawada on Thursday, Mr. Raghram said there is a need for adoption of a context-to-concept model in management education to enhance classroom effectiveness.

Mr. Raghuram also stressed that student-centricity must be the prime focus, and urged faculty to align teaching methods with student aspirations. He underlined that the application of knowledge for development should be the guiding motto of every management department. Emphasising experiential learning, he pointed out the vital role of case studies in bridging theory and practice. He concluded by noting that organisational performance is the ultimate objective for managers.

Patibandla Murali, former faculty member at IIM Ahmedabad, also addressed the participants and shared his teaching experiences. He emphasised the importance of moving from ‘concept to application’ in management education.

The resource persons were later felicitated.
