The 77th Republic Day was celebrated across Eluru district with grandeur, featuring flag hoisting, parades, cultural performances, and recognition of public service. The main event at the Eluru Police Parade Ground saw District Collector K. Vetri Selvi unfurl the national flag, followed by a ceremonial salute from armed contingents and police personnel.

District officials and dignitaries, including Zilla Parishad Chairperson Ghanta Padmashree, MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar, Superintendent of Police (SP) K.P.S. Kishore, and Joint Collector M.J. Abhishek Gowda, attended the celebrations.

The Collector emphasised the importance of dedicating efforts toward the district’s development and called upon citizens to remain committed to progress and welfare initiatives. She highlighted the government’s achievements, including financial assistance to over 1.6 lakh farmers, distribution of mechanised farming equipment, procurement of Kharif crops, establishment of food processing units, and infrastructure projects such as check dams, roads, and irrigation systems. Special mention was made of programmes like SwarnaAndhra@2047, PM Kisan, and NTR Bharosa pensions.

The celebrations also featured patriotic cultural performances by school students, who exhibited dances and plays highlighting national unity and freedom. Notable performances included the Trividha English Medium High School students’ dance, the “Hum India Wale” act by Sneha Rights Children Home, and a traditional tribal dance by Tellamvarigudem Ashram School, which were recognised with awards by the Collector and SP.

Meanwhile, the Joint Collector M.J. Abhishek Gowda led the flag hoisting at the Collectorate, paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Similar festivities were conducted at the district library, with young students singing patriotic songs and participating in cultural events.

The day concluded with sweets distribution and a reaffirmation of commitment to national integrity, welfare, and development.
