Senior J&K BJP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma’s remarks, where he termed J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as ‘shahzada’ (prince), on Friday (April 24, 2026) triggered a sharp reaction from ruling National Conference (NC).
“Mr. Sharma, to stay in the limelight, is calling the elected Chief Minister, who won with a historic mandate, as ‘shahzada’. This reflected his political wisdom. The LoP needs to raise his bar of language and maintain political decorum. He’s also grappling with the inordinate delay in restoration of Statehood,” said NC leader and legislator Salman Sagar.
