An elderly woman was reportedly burnt alive at her house in Gaddalagunta of Ongole on Tuesday early morning (April 14, 2026). The police suspect that the son, who is absconding, is behind the incident.

According to the police, the woman identified as Venkata Ramanamma (65) was living with her son, Venkata Kishore, in an old house opposite Shri Ram Temple. Her other son, Venkata Narayana, works as a software engineer in Chennai. At around 5 a.m., Venkata Kishore rushed out shouting that their house had caught fire. The blaze was brought under control with the help of fire engine personnel. However, by the time locals alerted the fire brigade, the woman had already died in the fire.
