The Dagadarthi greenfield airport is set to become the eighth airport of Andhra Pradesh, following the recent Cabinet approval for the project, thereby giving a big boost to the State’s aviation sector.

This airport will reinforce the State’s vision of creating a future-ready, multimodal logistics and industrial network, said an official release on Saturday.

It was mentioned that the airport has excellent connectivity to National Highway corridors, two major ports—Krishnapatnam and Ramayapatnam ports, and multiple industrial clusters, including the KRIS City and IFFCO SEZs.

The strategic location of the airport positions it as a critical enabler for manufacturing, exports, agri-logistics, and services-led growth in Andhra Pradesh.

The project has already received in-principle clearance from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Request for Proposal (RFP) has been issued to invite private participation for development, operation, and maintenance under a long-term concession framework.

The airport would be developed on 1,332.80 acres, with Phase-1 designed to handle 1.40 million passengers per annum, scalable up to 15 million passengers annually in the long term with a provision for a cargo facility.
