DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday urged his party district secretaries, respective ministers and zonal in charges to make all arrangements to successfully implement the “Vellum Tamil Pengal” door-to-door campaign.

In a statement, Mr Stalin said a committee of 10 women has been formed in each polling station based on the list provided by the district secretaries.

“One member should be selected from the committee and training sessions should be held at the constituency level. The assembly constituency-wise training session for the “Vellum Tamil Pengal” campaign should be held and completed in all the constituencies by February 20, 21 and 22. This training will be provided by the assembly constituency women’s team in-charges. In the training session, all information related to the “Vellum Tamil Pengal” campaign will be provided to the polling station-level women’s team in-charges. After that, they will train the other members in each polling station and start the campaign,” he said.

“We should take the achievements of the Dravidian Model Government, which has provided a total of Rs. 5000/- to the women of Tamil Nadu. In addition, we should convey to the women my promise that the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam will be increased to Rs. 2,000 per month under the ‘Dravidian Model 2.0’ regime.”

He said the door to door campaign should be launched from February 23 and should be wrapped up on March 8, which happens to be the International Women’s Day.
