The Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched the room of a doctor working at Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore on Friday.

Police sources said that along with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, a seven-member team from Chennai reached the doctors’ quarters near the CMC premises around 7. 30 a.m. The searches were conducted in the room of a junior doctor in the two-storey building. The operation was related to the doctor’s family business, police sources said.

In an official statement, Dr. Vikram Mathews, Director, CMC, clarified that any action reported at a residential premises allotted to an employee, in his individual capacity, has no connection whatsoever with CMC or its operations.

Representing the same as ED action at CMC, Vellore, is factually incorrect and misleading, he noted. He also said that recent reports suggesting that ED action was taking place at CMC, Vellore, were completely false and misleading. No ED raid, search, or investigation happened at CMC, and the institution was functioning normally without any disruption, the statement said.
