A drug peddler and a transporter were arrested in Hyderabad after a joint operation by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Chaderghat police. Officials seized 50 grams of MDMA, and two mobile phones, together valued at around ₹5.5 lakh.
The accused were identified as Mohd Osman alias Abbu, 33, a private employee from Bandlaguda, and Rahul, 23, a native of Kollam, Kerala, residing in Bangalore.
An officer from H-NEW said that Osman turned to peddling after facing financial difficulties, sourcing drugs through contacts on Instagram and WhatsApp.
“He procured MDMA from Rahul at ₹2,000 per gram and sold it in Hyderabad at prices ranging between ₹8,000 and ₹10,000 to fund his lifestyle,” said the officer.
Rahul, a BCA graduate from Bangalore, came into contact with drug supplier Ashwin Das Ramanth, a Kerala native currently residing in Bahrain.
“Following Ashwin’s instructions, Rahul collected drugs from dead drops arranged by an unidentified foreign supplier and delivered them to Osman in Hyderabad on a commission basis. Ashwin, who remains absconding, coordinated the supply chain remotely via WhatsApp and online transfers,” said the officer.
Police said Osman and Rahul were caught on October 1 in Chaderghat while in possession of the contraband.
Meanwhile, authorities appealed parents to monitor their children’s activities and urged people to share information on drug abuse with H-NEW on 8712661601.
