The Revenue department on Saturday placed Wayanad Revenue Recovery Deputy Collector C. Geetha under immediate suspension following a departmental investigation that found her guilty of serious dereliction of duty and procedural lapses regarding land reclassification.

The disciplinary action followed a formal complaint by K.J. Devasya, Kerala Congress State general secretary, concerning 10 cents of land in Noolpuzha village.

On February 27, 2025, the High Court had ruled in favour of Mr. Devasya, directing that the land be removed from the official data bank. Despite the verdict, Geetha allegedly created “unnecessary hurdles” to block the land’s conversion under Form 6 of the Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act.

A preliminary probe conducted by the Revenue department confirmed that the officer had intentionally delayed the process and failed to adhere to the High Court’s directives.
