A Delhi court on Monday (April 6, 2026) remanded seven foreign nationals, accused in alleged terror activities, to 30 days of judicial custody.
The accused include six Ukrainian nationals and one U.S. citizen, identified as Matthew Aaron Van Dyke, along with Hurba Petro, Slyviak Taras, Ivan Sukmanovskyi, Stefankiv Marian, Honcharuk Maksim, and Kaminskyi Viktor.
They were produced before Special Judge Prashant Sharma of Patiala House Court after the expiry of their custody with the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The court accepted the central agency’s request for judicial custody following prior remand periods granted in March.
The U.S. national filed application in the court to meet his family members on which a notice has been issued to the agencies concerned. The next hearing in the matter is on April 08.
According to the NIA FIR, the accused entered India on tourist visas and travelled to the Northeast without securing mandatory permits. Investigators allege they moved from Mizoram into Myanmar unlawfully and were involved in training Ethnic Armed Organisations.
The central agency has invokes provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, including those pertaining to conspiracy, as the agency continues its probe into suspected cross-border networks.
The court, in an earlier order, observed that the allegations extended beyond immigration violations, pointing to possible links with groups aiding banned insurgent outfits through training and logistical support. It noted that such claims raised serious concerns relating to national security.
