An Air India flight suffered a tail strike while landing at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Thursday.

Flight AI2651, operating from Delhi to Bengaluru, experienced a tail strike during landing. Airline officials said that the aircraft landed safely following which all passengers and crew disembarked. The incident occurred at around 11 a.m.

The aircraft was grounded for detailed inspection at KIA, and as a result, the return flight AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi was cancelled.

Air India said that the incident will be investigated in accordance with established procedures in coordination with the relevant regulatory authorities.

“Air India regrets the inconvenience caused. The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority,” an Air India spokesperson said.

As AI2652 from Bengaluru to Delhi has been cancelled alternative arrangements are being made to accommodate affected passengers at the earliest.

“Our ground teams in Bengaluru are providing all necessary assistance,” the spokesperson added.
