Temporary repairs to 1,632 kilometres of roads in the State damaged due to the cyclone Montha require nearly ₹100 crore and permanent measures, nearly ₹900 crore, according to Transport and Roads & Buildings Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy.

He said in a press release that the cyclone fury resulted in potholes and erosion of roads under the purview of the R&B Department at 69 locations and restoration has been completed at 16 locations so far.

Roads were cut off at 21 locations, and repairs were done at six locations. Culverts were damaged at 144 locations and 36 have been restored.

R&B Department cleared 62 out of 66 fallen trees. Overflowing of water on roads was reported at 130 locations.

The Engineer-in-Chief of R&B Department, Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers were monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps for restoration of the roads, Mr. Janardhan Reddy added.
