Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge presided over a party meeting on Tuesday (September 9, 2025) to discuss the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, and general secretary organisation, K. C. Venugopal, were part of the meeting.

“Under the leadership of INC President Sh. Mallikarjun @kharge ji and LOP Sh. @RahulGandhi ji, held an important meeting with senior INC leaders from Bihar, including PCC [Pradesh Congress Committee] president Sh. Rajesh Ram ji, CLP [Congress Legislature Party] leaders Shakeel Ahmad Khan & Madhan Mohan Jha ji, and MPs, regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar,” Mr. Venugopal said in a post on X.

The meeting follows the 16-day Vote Adhikar Yatra led by Mr. Gandhi, which was held as a protest against the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in the State, .

Though there was no official word on what transpired in the meeting, sources indicated that the leadership discussed strategies to carry forward the momentum generated by the yatra and build a narrative.

A section of the Congress, citing the “success” of the yatra, has already started demanding a better seat-sharing deal for the party in the mahagathbandhan.

While Rashtriya Janata Dal is the main party in the grand alliance, Congress, Vikasheel Insaan Party, and the CPI (Marxist Leninist) are the other constituents.
