Former CorroHealth staff say compensation promise is a relief

Former employees of CorroHealth, a US-based healthcare analytics company, who were laid-off, welcomed the decision to provide them gross salaries for five months as additional compensation.

The decision came following a government-level discussion with the company representatives held on Monday (July 20, 2026). Around 800 employees of the firm in its Kochi and Kozhikode units had lost their job. The company agreed to pay the compensation at a meeting convened by Labour Minister Bindu Krishna in Thiruvananthapuram.

“The company has agreed to pay gross salaries for five months, in addition to the full and final settlement amount paid to the employees earlier. The management has informed that the amount will be paid on July 26. The company has also agreed to issue all necessary documents, including relieving letters, without any adverse remarks to all the affected employees,” the Minister said. She added the government was committed to helping the affected workers.

Vishnu T.P., a representative of the employees, who attended the talks said the compensation package was the best available option for the affected workforce. “We were afraid that nothing positive would emerge from the discussions. At least we could get such a package,” Mr. Vishnu added.

Jazil Aboobacker, who was with the company’s Kozhikode unit and took part in the talks, said the compensation has come as a breathing space for those who lost their jobs. “We can look out for other jobs without worrying about next month’s salary now,” he said.

Ludhia Fernandez, who was in the Kochi unit, exuded happiness that the compensation package is much more than what many of them expected. She said the responses from most of her colleagues to the outcome of the talks was positive. “We were almost sure that the company will not reopen. All that we could hope was a fair compensation,” she said.

The Minister said though the company had proposed to relocate 12 per cent of the laid off employees, the workers were apprehensive of such a solution and had raised doubts about job security in the firm. Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas, Labour officials, and representatives of different trade unions attended the talks.
