The Congress will form monitoring cells to assist governing committees in all local bodies in Ernakulam where the party is in power.

In a statement issued here, District Congress Committee (DCC) president Mohammad Shiyas said these monitoring cells would include senior party leaders, those with administrative experience, and retired officials from local institutions. He added that it would be ensured that governance was carried out in the interest of the people and the community.

The United Democratic Front (UDF) currently has 71 grama panchayat presidents. Mr. Shiyas said that the administration would be conducted in a manner suited to contemporary times, rather than following traditional methods. He warned of strong action against those attempting to destabilise or weaken the governing bodies.

He further said that if disputes or differences of opinion arose in administrative matters, a mechanism would be created at the party level to resolve them. Mr. Shiyas also emphasised that corruption-free governance would be ensured.
