District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar on Thursday reviewed the preparatory arrangements to be put in place for Thai Poosam festival, scheduled from January 31 to February 3 at Sathya Gnana Sabha in Vadalur in Cuddalore district.
The Collector said elaborate arrangements were being made to provide adequate drinking water and toilet facilities to devotees. A total of 123 toilets, including 36 mobile toilets would be installed at three places near the venue. In addition, 50 toilets would be installed by the Vadalur municipality along the routes.
The CCTVs would be installed at 82 places across Vadalur to ensure safety of visitors. The installation of eight watchtowers at intersections and busy stretches of the town are under way. Information boards would be erected at key junctions displaying details about the places, drinking water, toilet facilities, and medical camps.
The Collector said medical teams, including doctors and ambulances, will be deployed round-the-clock on the premises till the festival draws to a close. The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) will also be operating special buses from various parts of the State to Vadalur, he said.

The Jyothi Darshan in Vadalur is considered as a special event by the followers of Sathya Gnana Sabha, because on that day all the seven screens of different hues in the sabha would be removed one after another to reveal the holy lighted lamp kept in the sanctum sanctorum.
