The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is set to conduct a physical survey and fix the boundaries of the existing airport land at the Warangal airfield, also known as Mamnoor airport, based on the Revenue survey maps. The Authority has invited bidders to fix boundaries, including peg marking and fixing boundary stones duly painted, and to create a digital map for 740 acres in its possession. The survey is expected to be completed after the tenders are awarded to the successful bidders.

It may be noted that the Telangana government recently acquired an additional 220 acres of land for the airport, against the requirement of 253 acres. The Civil Aviation Ministry issued a ‘no objection certificate (NOC)’ to the AAI for its immediate development and advised the Telangana government to take necessary measures.

On March 2 this year, Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu at a programme in Hyderabad stated that the proposed airport at Mamnoor near Warangal will be completed within 30 months, provided the Telangana government hands over the required land to the AAI.
