The District Election Officer and Nilgiris Collector, Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, crossed River Bhavani at Thengumarahada by coracle and inspected the polling booths here on Sunday (April 5, 2026).

The Collector was accompanied by the Nilgiris district superintendent of police N.S. Nisha and Forest Department officials from Mudumalai and Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserves. She encouraged voters to cast their votes in the upcoming State Assembly elections.

The Collector inspected basic facilities such as availability of drinking water, toilets, electricity, ramps for the disabled and other essential arrangements at the Government Tribal Residential School that will serve as the polling station at Kallampalayam in Thengumarahada village. Security arrangements were also reviewed.

“Election will be held on April 23 and all voters must cast their votes. Voters must carry identity proof when coming to vote. For this purpose, any one of the 12 identity proof documents approved by the Election Commission of India (Aadhaar Card, MGNREGA Job Card, Bank/Post Office Passbook with photograph, Driving Licence) should be brought to the polling station,” a press release from the Nilgiris district administration stated.
