The test identification parade (TIP) of the three accused in the Coimbatore gang-rape case was held on Tuesday (November 18, 2025).

Sources privy to the investigation said that the TIP was held at the Coimbatore Central Prison.

The three accused in the case, T. Karuppasamy alias Satheesh (30), his brother T. Kaleeswaran alias Karthik (21) and their distant relative M. Guna alias Thavasi (20), of Madurai district, were paraded along with other persons for the TIP.

Separate TIPs were held for the 20-year-old survivor in the case, who is a student of a college in Coimbatore, and her boyfriend aged 25.

The procedure, as per norms, was held in a one-way mirror room at the Central Prison. The arrangement allows a witness to identify suspect/s without being seen by the suspect/s or fillers (other individuals in the line-up).

Credible sources said the survivor and her boyfriend identified the three accused from others paraded along with them.

The First Judicial Magistrate, who was assigned by the Chief Judicial Magistrate to conduct the TIP, will submit a report on the procedure before the court concerned. The case is currently being handled by the Additional Mahila Court, Coimbatore.

On the intervening night of November 2 and 3, the three accused allegedly gang-raped the survivor on a deserted area behind a college campus near Coimbatore International Airport. The trio assaulted the student’s boyfriend with weapons, before abducting her to the secluded place behind a college, where they allegedly raped her in turns for over four hours.

All the three accused in the case, who were shot in their legs by the police during the arrest, are lodged in Coimbatore Central Prison in judicial custody.
