City police conduct security drive in Thiruvananthapuram

The Thiruvananthapuram City Police carried out an intensive security and vehicle inspection drive across the city on January 18 night, resulting in the registration of a large number of cases under various provisions.

Led by District Police Chief (Thiruvananthapuram City) K. Karthick, the special drive was conducted from 6 p.m. to midnight. Police teams focused on station border areas, residential areas, commercial hubs, tourist destinations, and hotels and lodges across all city police subdivisions. As many as 294 establishments, including hotels, and 101 labour camps were inspected.

As many as 915 vehicles were checked during the special drive. Of these, 717 motorists were fined for violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. The police also registered 188 cases for offences including drunken driving, causing traffic obstruction and other violations.

Moreover, the police executed 49 warrants and 21 long-pending warrants sent from various courts, along with 20 other warrants forwarded to different police stations.

The police have stated that similar security checks would be conducted in the coming days as part of efforts to strengthen law and order and ensure public safety in the State capital.
