The Anti-Narcotics Wing of Central Crime Branch, Bengaluru, on Friday busted a drug racket and arrested a 33-year-old student of a dental college and recovered 300 g of hydro ganja worth ₹32 lakh from him.
The accused identified as Ranjith Antony Mathew, residing in an apartment in Lakkasandra used to source the drugs from his contacts through a courier service and sell it to his customers .
Based on a tip-off, a team of police raided his apartment and seized the drugs. He was booked under Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and investigations are on to track down his network.
In a similar operations, the CCB officials arrested a 30-year-old Nigerian national and seized 500 g of hydro-ganja worth ₹75 lakh from him. The accused identified as Kevin Rozer, who works as software engineer in a city-based tech firm used to allegedly source the drugs from his contacts in Delhi and Mumbai and sell it to their customers through the drop location method. The accused used to operate a WhatsApp group to sell drugs.
In another case, the police have arrested two more Nigerian nationals in Hebbagodi and recovered 42 g ecstasy pills and 3.8 kg of MDMA, white and brown powder from them. The accused Ngwu Kingsley Chukwveneka, 32, and Thomas Navid Chime, 40, used to peddle drugs to their contacts who are students and IT employees. The accused are habitual offenders involved in similar cases in Gujarat and also booked by Narcotics Control Bureau earlier. The accused had come to India on a medical visa and are overstaying, the police said.
