Hyderabad will host the second edition of the Cardiac Rehab Run on September 21 on Necklace Road, which is being organised by the Cardiac Rehab Foundation, to mark World Heart Day.

The run is aimed at raising awareness about the growing incidence of young people suffering heart attacks and to mobilise funds in support of heart failure patients.

Organisers said the event would highlight the importance of cardiac rehabilitation, a therapy often ignored in India despite being strongly recommended by the World Health Organization.

Statistics shared by the foundation point to heart disease as the country’s leading killer, claiming more than 13,000 lives daily. In Hyderabad alone, 80 to 100 heart attacks are reported each day, with a rising number of cases among professionals in their 30s and 40s. Since its inception, the centre has rehabilitated over 200 patients, cutting hospital readmissions by 70% and enabling survivors to return to active living, from running marathons to resuming regular work.
