Burglars broke into a police head constable’s home in Nanded’s Kautha area in Maharashtra on the night of September 18, 2026, and stole his service pistol, 30 live cartridges, cash, and gold jewellery worth over ₹16 lakh. Police have identified three suspects and formed six teams to trace them.
A case was registered at Nanded Rural Police Station on September 19, 2026, under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Section 331(4) deals with house-breaking committed to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment, while Section 305 covers theft in a dwelling house or other specified premises.
The house belongs to head constable Gajanan Baliram Kadam, who is posted as a crime writer at the office of the Nanded City Sub-Divisional Police Officer. According to police, Kadam’s family had gone to their native place, while he had returned to work and stayed overnight at his office. When he returned home at 10 a.m. on September 19, he found the lock broken and articles inside the house scattered.
Based on Mr. Kadam’s complaint, Nanded Rural Police registered an FIR in connection with the burglary.
Police said the burglars stole Mr. Kadam’s government-issued pistol and 30 live cartridges, ₹6.50 lakh in cash, and gold ornaments comprising a necklace, a chain and two rings weighing around five tolas. The total value of the stolen property has been estimated at around ₹16.65 lakh.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from Ram Bagh Residency and surrounding roads. One suspect captured on camera was reportedly seen with his face covered. Teams from Nanded Rural Police and the Local Crime Branch have been deployed to trace the accused. PSI Dnyaneshwar Bhosle is investigating the case, while senior officers including SDPO Prashant Shinde, LCB inspector Atul Bhosle and Nanded Rural police inspector Omkant Chincholkar visited the spot after the burglary was reported.
