The Election Commission of India on Tuesday said Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognised political parties could submit up to a maximum of 10 application forms for claims and objections per day to the concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

In a statement, Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik said BLAs had to submit the forms along with an undertaking stating that the applications had been personally verified and that the particulars furnished were correct.

The BLOs will verify such forms, digitise the contents and forward them to the concerned Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or Electoral Registration Officer, who will scrutinise the forms and take appropriate action on a case-by-case basis.

The announcement was made as part of the claims and objections period, which began on December 19 and will continue until January 18, 2026, under the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu.

The draft electoral roll for the State was published on December 19, in which nearly 97.37 lakh electors out of 6.41 crore were deleted, bringing the total electorate down to 5.43 crore.

As of December 29, a total of 7,32,367 people had submitted Form 6 and Form 6A applications seeking inclusion as electors, while 9,450 people had submitted Form 7 for exclusion.

The Election Commission has also organised special camps during weekends. On December 27 and 28, a total of 5.58 lakh people submitted Form 6 and 8,260 people submitted Form 7 in the special camps.
