The BJP has decided to lay siege to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on the day of commencement of the Winter Session of the State legislature session on December 8 to protest against what it calls apathetic attitude of the Congress government towards farmers.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Sunday, BJP Farmers Wing State secretary Sathish Kadathanamale said party leaders would embark on a padayatra to the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on that day as part of the protest.

He accused the Congress government of failing to implement its poll promise of providing an incentive of ₹7 a litre for milk producers and increasing the limit on zero interest farm loans to ₹10 lakh.

He described the Congress government as the one that failed to keep its promises made to farmers.

Farmers’ wing vice-president M. Rudresh said the party would launch protests in all the Assembly constituencies on December 8 to create public awareness about the alleged failures of the Congress in the farm sector.
