Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday (October 10, 2026) transferred ₹1,237.48 crore into the bank accounts of over 1.8 crore beneficiaries under the social security pension scheme, which included the elderly, persons with disabilities, and widows. He transferred ₹1,100 per person for September 2026. The government observes the 10th of every month as Bihar Pension Day to disburse social security pension to beneficiaries.

Congratulating all the beneficiaries, Mr. Choudhary said all District Magistrates must ensure that no eligible beneficiary of the social security pension is left out. He also urged the public representatives to visit villages in their respective constituencies and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive social security pension.

“A special campaign should be conducted to ensure that no eligible person remains deprived of the social security pension. During the health survey, also verify whether eligible beneficiaries are receiving social security pensions or not,” the Chief Minister said.

Committed to their dignity: CM

He added that the government is committed to the dignity and social security of the poor, the elderly, persons with disabilities, widows, and the marginalised sections of society.

He mentioned that under the leadership of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the pension amount was increased from ₹400 to ₹1,100 and approximately 90,000 to one lakh new beneficiaries are being added every month to receive the benefits of the scheme.

Mr. Choudhary pointed out that the State government has ensured that the pension amount is transferred to the beneficiaries’ accounts on the 10th of every month. He reiterated that everyone must work together to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s dream of a prosperous Bihar.

“The distribution of social security pensions to eligible individuals must be carried out in a timely and transparent manner so that every eligible citizen can receive the benefits of social security with dignity. Increasing the social security pension amount from ₹400 to ₹1,100 has brought a positive change in people’s lives. The government remains committed to ensuring social security for the poor, the marginalised, and the needy,” Mr. Choudhary said while being accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav.

Social Welfare Minister Shweta Gupta and Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit were also present, whereas district magistrates from all districts joined the event through video conferencing.
