A 78-year-old man has complained to the Cyber Crime Police, seeking a detailed investigation into an alleged scam by a company that has been dispatching fake products to random addresses under the Cash on Delivery (COD) option.

Based on a complaint filed by the resident of J.P. Nagar, the cyber crime police have registered a case against the unknown person charging them under the IT Act and under cheating and impersonation sections of the BNS on Friday (October 26, 2025) for further investigation.

In his complaint, the complainant stated that the incident occurred on October 11 when he was at home and received a parcel from a reputed courier company in the name of his daughter. The product was 90 grams of Korean peel face mask worth ₹699.

Upon checking with his daughter, she said she had not ordered any such product. Acting on a suspicion, the elderly man visited the company’s branch office at Puttenahalli and got the information that the parcel was sourced from a company in Delhi.

When he looked further into the company online, he found that many people had been cheated across the country in a similar fashion and raised a complaint online.

The police have begun a probe and summoned the people concerned for questioning.

Police said that the company is suspected to have sourced the data and addresses from social media and randomly sends parcels to people to sell their product and cheat them.

“While many refused to accept the parcel, some out of curiosity take it and get cheated. As the money involved in the cheating is less, they refrain approaching the police,” said an officer.
