The Kannur team, which clinched the overall championship at the 64th Kerala School Art Festival held in Thrissur, was accorded a grand public reception across the district on Monday.

The official-level reception was held in Kannur, where Minister for Archaeology, Museums and Registration Ramachandran Kadannappally, MLA K.V. Sumesh, and district panchayat president Binoy Kurien welcomed the winning contingent.

Speaking on the occassion, Mr. Ramachandran said Kannur secured the golden crown reflecting its rich history and strong cultural, social and intellectual traditions. He credited the achievement to the collective effort and dedication of students, teachers and parents.

Earlier in the day, the team was received at Mahe, the district border, by the district panchayat with traditional musical performances.

The school arts festival in Kannur has been instrumental in nurturing talent, with notable figures like actress Manju Warrier, actor and dancer Vineeth Radhakrishnan, Anju Aravind, and Vineeth Kumar emerging from the district’s vibrant cultural landscape.
