An Armed Reserve constable was arrested by the Madhura Nagar police on Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in the locality.
The accused was identified as U. Sagar, aged 25, a 2018-batch constable attached to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) headquarters, and a native of Narsampet, in Warangal. He was posted at Borabanda police station for the past three -and-a-half years.
According to Madhura Nagar Inspector H. Prabhakar, the incident was reported on November 19, when the 25-year-old victim, a resident of Madhura Nagar, was walking to a tiffin centre. The accused approached her from behind on a motorcycle and touched her inappropriately before fleeing.
The woman informed her brother, who later lodged a complaint with the police. Investigators traced the suspect and identified him as a serving police constable. He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday.
