Minister Lokesh, in his capacity as the RTGS (Real-Time Governance Society) Minister, is coordinating the accident response and has announced he will visit the site to ensure immediate relief operations are carried out.
The tragic stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy temple looks like a result of severe management failures, starting with the fact that the said facility is a private temple and was not registered under the State Endowments Department.
The event organisers compounded the risk by failing to secure any official approvals for the large gathering, leaving the State government uninformed. Compounding the chaos, pilgrims assembled in an area that was under construction, and crucially, the entry and exit points of the temple were the same, leading directly to the fatal crush.
