The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to implement a comprehensive policy to address the issues related to service inam lands and ensure the timely completion of housing projects, said members of the Group of Ministers (GoM) after a series of meetings at the Secretariat on Friday.

Revenue, Registration and Stamps Minister Anagani Satya Prasad stated that committees comprising officials from the Endowments Department and tahsildars had been formed to conduct a detailed study on service inam lands. These committees would submit a report within 45 days, which would then be reviewed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to formulate a permanent solution, he said.

The GoM also discussed pre-hold land issues and Waqf land matters, with measures proposed to simplify processes and address legal challenges.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana noted that during 2014–19, the previous TDP government aimed to construct seven lakh TIDCO houses for the poor, granting administrative approval for five lakh houses. However, the succeeding YSRCP government had reduced the target to 2.6 lakh, which remained incomplete. “The Chief Minister has directed that all 2.6 lakh TIDCO houses be completed by June 2026, and the GoM reviewed the steps needed to achieve this target,” he said.

Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister K. Parthasarathy said that eligible poor families would receive houses along with plots of two or three cents, ensuring full ownership rights. “Special attention will be given to areas where previous constructions are incomplete. Journalists will also be allotted land, and legal hurdles, including Supreme Court constraints, will be addressed in consultation with the Advocate General to ensure houses are built and handed over,” he said.

The Ministers emphasised that the government’s priority is to provide housing for the poor and eligible journalists, while establishing a clear, streamlined policy for land allocation and development.
