A 10-year-old boy, Gandikota Balaji, was beaten to death by some miscreants at Nandiwada in Krishna district. The boy was studying in 4th class.

The boy’s grandmother, G. Lakshmi (68), suffered critical injuries and was admitted to a hospital in Vijayawada.

The miscreants attacked the boy and the old woman with boulders when they were asleep. The reason for the attack was not known immediately, said Krishna district Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Vidyasagar Naidu.

The Nandiwada police registered a case and took up investigation.

“We are investigating the case from different angles. The condition of the boy’s grandmother is critical,” the SP told The Hindu.
